With a skull measuring nearly 3 feet long, Andrewsarchus was a massive carnivorous creature that lived in Asia approximately 45 to 36 million years ago. This heavily built animal walked on four short legs, possessed a long body and tail, and had large bone-crushing teeth. Weighing between 1764 to over 2000 pounds, Andrewsarchus is believed to be the largest known mammalian land predator. Although its complete skeleton has never been found, reconstructions suggest a frightening creature that could have been an active predator or an oversized scavenger.
